Going to a competition? Drink some water!
Every other time when I am invited to competitions for bodybuilders I normally have the chance to see a lot of things and interact with a lot of interesting people. I always treasure some of these moments because hey only happen once and what I witness in the competitions serves as a learning experience not just for me but also for a lot of people out there who get to learn from me. Whenever I am invited to a contest, I normally come across competitors who are willing to go the extra mile. These are the competitors who do everything possible to make sure that they can get what they want. However at times some of them just do not know when enough is enough, and for the same reason they keep pushing till they can push no more. Some of the competitors in this situation normally do not even take enough water to keep them through the competition and the dehydration easily gets to them. It is not just the dehydration that I normally worry about for such competitors but I genuinely worry for their health and most importantly their state of mind. In such a competition there are a lot of applicants all who are trying to win in one way or the other. When you fail to win in such a competition especially in the face of the competition it can really get to your head and compound the hydration problem that you are already dealing with.
When you are dehydrated you will eventually end up feeling lightheaded and at times you can even pass out. These are not theoretical aspects but they are things that I have come to see first-hand and it is because of this that you too will need to make sure that you are keen on the same. It does not matter what you want to do or what you think you can achieve, do not get to a competition and forget about your water. Some of these competitions can drag on for as long as possible and in the event that you do not have enough water in your system you will basically be fighting a losing war.
You do not want to go to a competition and make the headlines for all the wrong reasons, being the competitor who fainted when their name was called out on to the stage, or the competitor who never made it to compete because they were too dehydrated to handle the pressure. Such are some of the situations that a lot of bodybuilders have to go through and when this happens, you can be sure that it will have a great impact on your confidence.
Because of some of the products that bodybuilders normally use, dehydration can have devastating effects on the competitors, and there are some who have even ended up in hospitals just because they did not drink enough water before they went on stage. Some of these things can be avoided; all you need to do is to make sure that you drink enough water, even backstage if you can.
