Have you ever heard that phrase you are what you eat? Well it is as true as you can ever imagine. If you really want to gain some mass, you have to watch what you eat. Of course there are different people who have in the recent past tried to demystify his training manuals and schedules so that they can be in a good position to get the best out of their own workout plans. It is always a good thing to have people who have succeeded like this to look up to, but the most important thing is to know how they do it.

One of the things that Arnold Schwarzenegger has always stressed about how he managed to work out from scratch to be at the helm of his career is that you have to be so careful about what you eat. Of course this is important because the gym alone will not be enough to deliver the hard muscles and the lean body that you want. In particular, proteins are a must have in your diet. Though there are different schools of thought when it comes to the amount of protein that you are supposed to eat, according to Arnold it all depends on what you are working towards. In his own training manual, he always equated a pound of bodyweight to a gram of protein for every meal that he had. Perhaps that worked for him, but it might not work out for you. The best way to go about this is to make sure that you are keen on how much your body does need, and most importantly, speak to your nutritionist or your dietician and see the best way forward.

You should make sure that you have some protein shake to take with you everywhere you go. In Arnold’s plan breakfast was never complete without bacon, tomatoes, onions, sausages or scrambled eggs. However, the only problem with this was that the satiety only lasted so long and in a short while during the morning, he would feel hungry. This is why the protein shakes were a really good alternative for him. They would supplement the meals to give him the protein he needed to ensure substantial growth of the muscles.

It is also a good thing to try and make sure that you can space your meals appropriately so that you do not feel so bad when going to the gym. Going by Arnolds plan, he would hit the gym at least half an hour after having the shakes. This gave him enough time to allow the body to ease off and relax and allow digestion to take place too.

Right after hitting the gym and working so hard out, Arnold would then have steak and vegetables though this was more of a late lunch. However, if you also want to gain the type of body that he got, you need to work along this line and get rid of all the bad food you are eating.
