I LOVE the Hydro-builder. Especially for pre or post workout. It doesn't just have one form of protein, but many. You get the slow and fast acting forms of protein...which help you with recovery as well as keeping you full longer. If you are someone that is interested in making clean gains...this is for you. I've tried a lot of protein brands. My favorite used to be BSN's Syntha-6... But Hydrobuilder is AMAZING! It is by far the best tasting protein I've ever had. I mixed one scoop (FYI, scoop is HUGE)w/ 8-10 oz. of water and it tastes like a chocolate milkshake!

- manageable serving size (huge spoon, still less than most of other post-workout gainers)

- it works (not by itself - you'll still have to work out)

Cons:
- pricey (the only con I can think of)

I am an active CrossFitter, and I train both strength and conditioning five or six days a week. After trying numerous protein products, I eventually settled on ON's Natural Whey as my default post-workout recovery supplement. Both my volume and goals have increased in recent months, however, and I decided to try ON's Platinum Hydrobuilder as an experiment.

Results were immediate, both tangible and intangible. Subjectively, I have felt more energized. I'm able to complete more of my sets unbroken (resulting in faster times), and I usually feel like I have some gas in the tank after my training sessions are over. I also wake up fresh and limber the next day.

Objectively, after only two weeks of taking Platinum Hydrobuilder, I have increased my snatch, bench, and shoulder/military press 1RM PRs by 5 lbs. each (I have been stuck on my shoulder press for months); back squat 5RM PR by 15 lbs.; weighted dip and pull-up 3RMs; and weighted pull-up 1RM. Hydro Builder is my new favorite post workout protein supplement. First of all, the taste in both chocolate and vanilla are awesome. It mixes very well and has a slightly thick texture to give it a milk shake type taste. The ingredients are second to none. I do a lot of reading on different supplements and Hydro Builder is the best for what it does. Ultra fast, medium, and slow releasing proteins combined with creatine, betaine, and a ton of essential amino acids makes it my fav. Two huge thumbs up! Optimum Nutrition hits another home run! This protein has a pretty great taste. It reminds me of a cold Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate and I don't experience any of the bad after taste that other reviews have mentioned. I am using one of the blender bottles and the stuff seems to mix great as well.

It is also nice that 1 serving is packing 30g of protein so you only need 8oz of a liquid, which is great if you like using milk and are watching calories. (Posted on 1/23/12)

I really like what they did here with Platinum HydroBuilder, it shortens recovery time, builds muscle, and has creatine in it. It tastes bad and I prefer Platinum Hydrowhey's taste over it. But it's a protein shake, what do you expect? (Posted on 1/23/12)

I've made AMAZING gains with Hydrobuilder. I would buy it again, but the price is pretty much ridiculous. The chocolate shake was probably a 4/5 in terms of flavor. It's good, but not amazing. Anyways, I highly recommend ON's Hydrobuilder if you can afford it! (Posted on 1/23/12)

This product is by far that greatest post workout protein on the market today! It has many unique product characteristics including hydrolyzed egg protein as well as the Creapep blend. Not only that, but the taste is exceptional! I have found that my post-workout recovery has increased in addition to seeing an all around better workout with increased strength. I have to give Optimum top marks for this formulation. It has full doses of everything I should need to build more muscle and I'm looking forward to only taking one supplement instead of my usual daily mixing routine. Expecting great results. I ran out of protein (I was using 100% Gold Whey and also Syntha-6) so I went to a store and got me a 20-serving jar of HydroBuilder. Reviews on this product are pretty much spot-on, as in: This is pretty great tasting comprehensive protein supplement. Except I don't understand the reviewers that said it tasted horrible, because it doesn't. I would say it's not as "ridiculously delicious" as Syntha-6 but it's pretty damn close. You'll notice it's pretty thick when mixed with milk; I imagine you could get away with just using water to mix it. The scoop is huge, but this in no way bears on the review of this product or its effectiveness. Overall, I am very satisfied. (Posted on 1/23/12)

This product has a great protein/supplement profile. One scoop gives you 30 grams of protein in 180 calories and 5 grams of creatine, which is a nice bonus. There's good fiber included and it mixes into both water and milk readily.

However, I didn't like the taste of the texture of the shakes it made at all. It tasted really cloying and fake, and made a sludge-like drink with either milk or water. It was really a battle to choke it down. I'll never be buying this stuff again, unfortunately. (Posted on 1/5/12)

Not only does the chocolate taste delicious, but it conveniently has everything I need for post-workout, including creatine and hydrolyzed whey protein.
