Whenever you ask someone which are the most important meals of the day, the one answer that you will not fail to get is breakfast. It is true that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day especially for normal people. However, in the event that you are a bodybuilder, you can rest assured that there is no meal as important as your pre-workout or your post workout meal. These two meals are the most important meals in your life, and for a good reason too. Over the past few weeks there have been so many people who have asked me about which meals should be the most important in their lives, and I find it necessary to address this situation appropriately.
Most of those who ask me this question are pretty specific and they normally ask me what meals I take throughout the day, which ones I take seriously so that I can keep the physique that I have. All my meals are important to me, and I would never substitute either of them for anything in the world. My meals define who I am, they define my success and most importantly they make my world go round. Every other day of my life I pay special attention to these meals so that I can get the best out of my workout sessions. This is my plan from morning to evening when I leave the house till I get back. When I go to the gym I always give it my everything so that I can be able to get awesome results when working out.
The common rule before you hit the workout is to make sure that you eat low carb foods which are whole and digest slowly in the system. The reason for this is because there are so many things that happen when you are working out, and one of them is that you tend to create a big time lapse between one meal and the other. It is also natural for you to want to wait at least an hour before you can hit the gym hard after eating, so it would be a good thing for you to focus on this. Besides, by the time you manage to get your way around from the gym you will have had enough time to rest and make good use of the time lapse.
The good thing with eating whole foods is that when they digest slowly, there is no chance or minimal if any that you are going to starve through the workout. Starving or feeling hungry in the course of the workout can be a bad thing for you, especially when you still have a long way to go. It can keep the focus away from your workout to your hunger and as a result you will have a lower success rate while working out.
However, it is not just about what you eat, but how you take care of your body too. As usual, drink water, lots of it.
