No one is too young to eat healthy
Eating and living healthy are some of the most important things that almost anyone should care about. To me living healthy had always been a dream because for a very long time I lived the kind of lifestyle that most young people my age live, eating and filling up on junk and having fun. Naturally, I have always been too conscious about my weight and dreamt of how fit I can get if I put my mind to it. I have been on quite a number of diets, tried my hand at healthy lifestyle as many times as I can remember, and each time I gave up because I was not patient enough to appreciate the minimal results. Much as anyone would warn against this, I wanted that miracle worker that would deliver drastic and immediate results.
I can remember in 2012 I stuffed myself with so much food that I had to avoid looking in the mirror because I knew I would not like what I would see in there. When summer was over, I was 139 pounds and not proud of it at all. That was the heaviest I have ever weighed at any given time. I knew I had to do something, and do it so fast. First I stopped eating junk then started treating my body like a temple. I only ate healthy food and exercised at least 6 times every week. I kept to this routine and once I got used to it, I have never stopped, and never looked back either.
One of the things that really helped me is that I carried out a lot of research especially on health and fitness and this has been quite the guideline in sending me in the right direction so far. When I started the workout sessions and eating healthy, my target was to lose the fat and be skinny. However, the more I trained, the more I added muscle where there used to be fat and over time I thought to myself, I could get used to that. I worked hard each day and eventually managed to cut down to a manageable level, but still did not stop there. The more I trained and got better results the more determined and dedicated I was. Soon I rescheduled my time to wake up at 4.30 in the morning to hit the gym. This was good for me because I was working full time now since I had finished school.
Funny enough there were so many women with amazing bodies all over Instagram who were my inspiration, and I even decided to enter a competition. Preparing for the competition was not an easy thing to do, but I can be happy with the fact that it made me a stronger individual and I also got the chance to learn so much about myself in the process. Coming in at 10th from 23 girls in the competition, I felt like a winner especially when I looked back at how far I had come to get here.
