How important is dieting to fitness ?

There is so much talk going on about dieting that it can at times get all too confusing. Dieting is important, but I never really took it as importantly as I should. Some time in life I came to realize that dieting actually makes up close to three quarters of the fitness schedule of anyone who is keen on building their body. I can remember back in the day I never cared about what I was eating, all I did was eat whatever I wanted, go to the gym and work so hard so that I could burn out anything that I thought was bad for my body. As a matter of fact this is what I referred to as my workout routine. Not so long ago however, I came to realize just how important a diet can be, especially to how the body looks, and the manner in which the body will perform in different situations optimally.

Did you know that one of the most important things that you have to do to cut down on your fat and gain muscle is to eat as often as necessary? Forget all those who misled you to stop eating, or to cut down on the number of meals you have in a day, it is important that you eat frequently and the right meals too. It is important that you eat at least every 2-3 hours, but when it comes to the evening, anything after 6pm, do not eat any complex carbohydrates especially before you go to bed. With regard to proteins, it is important that you watch the amount of protein that you eat, and make sure that you do not eat anything more than 70 grams in a single meal.

Carbohydrates are important to supplying your body with the energy that you need from time to time especially if you are working out. If you do not have the right kind of carbohydrates, you will not even be able to make it through a proper workout session. In fact, the body can get into a state commonly referred to as ketosis, or carbohydrate deprivation. When this happens, the body starts using the proteins as energy instead.

So much has been said about proteins and how important they are to your body. Basically it is through the proteins that the body will build its muscles. If you do not have enough proteins in your diet, you cannot expect to grow muscle because you lack the proteins necessary to help in this process.

There is a common misconception that fats are bad. In real sense, fats are so important to the body because they help you build muscle while at the same time carrying out quite a number of body functions. Saturated fats are the bad fats that you need to stay away from, and they are commonly found in meats. However, unsaturated fats are the good ones which help you build muscle and act as a good source of energy. They are commonly found in plant oils and peanuts.
